Hi All,
I created this blog to post my experience with Free Oracle 10g XE software and the internal workings of the Application Express shipped with it.
But, first lets get it-
You can download this free version of Oracle from: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/index.html
Just create a Oracle Technology Network account and download the required version (Windows 168MB).
Double click to install and you have Oracle database to work with.
Now lets know it:
It is a regular Oracle RDBMS with some limits on package support. It has most of the features of the personal edition of Oracle 10g. Some salient points are:
Advantages:
1> Browser based UI for all DML, DDL and SQL Loader operations.
2> Application Express for RAD.
3> Browser based so no client installation required.
Disadvantages:
1> Max 4MB database.
2> Max 20 clients to one server.
IDEAL for small business and academic projects.
